The Energy Savings Insurance (ESI) project helps SMEs to evaluate and track energy saving renovations and upgrades. The ESI model, using an independent validation process, backed by an insurer, is making sure that energy-saving promises are met and that the return on investment is realized. A management information system will enable the necessary information flow among actors and provide reporting to the stakeholders. The process will be mapped within a Hyperledger Fabric Blockchain to ensure immutability, increase trust among the stakeholders and therefore facilitate reporting and auditing requirements.

What are QDX™ Dots?
Our unique quantum dot nanomaterials are optical signatures which are embedded in a material at manufacture. Impossible to copy or clone, these optical signatures can be finely tuned to emit predetermined wavelengths of light, which establish absolute product identity.
What is the QDX™ Ledger blockchain platform?
Our platform leverages blockchain to create cryptographically secure copies of these unique optical signatures. Manufacturers and consumers use a smartphone to scan an item bearing the optical signature to prove product identification and authenticity.

As part of the efforts to modernize GE’s Internal Billing System, the use of distributed ledger technology was explored to satisfy the intercompany capabilities model and enable GE to transition its mission critical processes from legacy mainframe to the cloud.

Users consist of company accountants, controllers, planners, treasury and business analysts, and executives.
What business or technology benefit do your users get by using your app, product or project?
iDeAL was developed to provide a modern user experience and support a lean intercompany process for GE. Transactions are validated through codified accounting rules to provide end-to-end valid transactions. Distributed ledger keeps track of events for the full lifecycle of the invoice. In case of accounting exceptions, iDeAL generates issue resolution workflows automatically to enable collaboration between counterparties and also includes an escalation process.
As invoices become valid, they are immediately booked into the participants ERPs unlike the current IBS process, where invoices are booked only when settled. This enables GE to move towards a continuous accounting financial process. The additional benefit is the reduced volume of month end accruals to only invalid transactions. This approach provides earlier visibility to P&L activity. Although settlement is executed after Treasury approval, netting and aggregation balance happens in real time as the transactions are accepted, providing immediate cash flow forecast data.

The solution connects independent billing systems, such as ERPs and shared service systems through an integration layer to applications governed by smart contract business rules and a web-based user interface. The Hyperledger Fabric architecture supports businesses as the center-of-gravity, allowing them to use their existing integrations with ERPs and customize their own decentralized application. In the event of a business disposition, individual network nodes can be isolated and spun off to remove the link to the parent company.

By leveraging Hyperledger Sawtooth all transactions are recorded immutably and attested to the right members of a supply chain network, ensuring liability tracking. Most importantly BlockRTI works in tandem with legacy systems, overcoming corporate silos, by allowing any one to become part of a network of partners, be it various facilities of the same company, logistics actors or even clients. Tracking returnable transport items makes financial sense for all parties involved, and the supply chain more sustainable.

Sponsored by the Clinical Supply Blockchain Working Group, KitChain is a robust collaborative model for pharmaceutical clinical supply chains, powered by blockchain. The project is designed to track shipments of packaged drug product being sent to clinical pharmacies at medical centers in the United States. KitChain takes the form of a blockchain-powered iOS application designed to easily fit into the supply chain workflow while passing messages securely and seamlessly between shippers, recipients, and interested third parties.

What business or technology benefit do your users get by using your app, product or project?
Clinical studies and their attendant supplies are exploding in number, complexity, and scope, with increasingly specialized storage conditions and shorter windows of expiration. Clinical sites are struggling to meet these demands, which have slowed enrollment and sometimes forced them to turn away new studies. With personalized medicine on the horizon, these trends are likely to become even more challenging. While sponsors and CROs have historically encouraged sites to use their proprietary systems, the sheer number of systems means that many sites have fallen back on paper documentation. At the same time, the unique blinding requirement of the clinical pharmaceutical supply chain represents unique challenges. KitChain is designed as a lightweight solution to this problem, using blockchain as a way to ensure immutable record-keeping for shipments of experimental medications.

LYNKIT.IO is a supply chain and transport documentation application. Our application allows onboarding by cargo owner (consignor) and their consignees, buyers and carriers to upload data and prepare a consignment note as required for transport of goods by road under India’s Carriage by Road Act, 2007. All parties can securely share e-consignment notes/ goods delivery notes and get an e-proof of delivery (POD) over Blockchain. The unique aspect of the application comes from the localisation of its functionality to meet Indian conditions, where law enforcement agencies may require a carrier to produce a printed e-consignment note. Our application provides for printing of each leg of the transaction with QR codes, which can be scanned for verifying the authenticity of the document. The application provides for multi-stage data entry for complete record keeping as per Indian law. For example, carriers can add details such as vehicle registration number, vehicle type and chargeable freight. Consignees are enabled to provide confirmation of receipt of goods, including delivery exceptions such as missing boxes or damaged pieces. The application also allows for geo-tagged photos to be uploaded through our mobile app. Our proprietary IoT platfrom – Lynktrac can also be integrated with consignment notes and e-PODs, on demand. This would allow permissioned parties to track the entire journey of the truck, and associate the GPS device ID with the consignment notes/ PODs along with additional details such as time of locking/unlocking of cargo hold / container.

All persons connected with selling, moving and buying goods either domestically or internationally can be users of our application.
What business or technology benefit do your users get by using your app, product or project?
• Automation and digitisation of regulatory documents; the application brings near real-time visibility to multi-party transactions; reduces trade frictions between consignor & consignee; eliminates fake trade and benefits law enforcement; facilitates trade financing and bill discounting with speed and trust
• Both, consignors and consignees, have a shared view of all incoming and outgoing shipments down to the SKU level
• Carriers can get quicker release of payments since they no longer have to produce original physical copies of PODs
• When all parties in the supply chain are onboarded, it allows for seamless movement of information from consignor to carrier to consignee.
• Consignee can instantly see dispatch date and time and other relevant information such as marks and numbers, vehicle registration number and so on.
• This application can also be integrated with our IoT tracking platform, Lynktrac, enabling additional validation and combining information from human input and machines on to a single application. Thus, delivery delays or exceptions can be validated with actual movement of a vehicle. It overcomes the trust deficit between parties making for smoother transactions. The ability to upload geo-tagged pictures of the consignment is also enabled for the same purpose.

What were the most compelling features of Hyperledger technologies for this project?
While selecting Hyperledger our team became aware of the superior flexibility of Hyperledger in comparison to other blockchains. We found it to be a highly customizable product. The feature of being a private & permissioned blockchain provided a great fit to the business use case we sought. To address. We were keen on using an open source platform that was backed and supported by a credible organisation and provided for the security and assurance that our large enterprise clients would require. IBM’s Hyperledger Fabric, developed under the auspices of the Linux Foundation, was the best choice. During the development of our project we found all the necessary tools and support we had hoped, and were able to build a scalable and flexible solution.
From a technical standpoint, hyperledger offered the following features that we needed;
• In our application the goods delivery note (or consignment note) is an asset, which is passed on between entities, using our blockchain application.
• As the transaction has both regulatory and financial significance, our application requires a permissioned network, so that all participants can be authenticated before participating and transacting on the blockchain. No unauthorized entity can perform any transaction on our network.
• Channel / Data Privacy – Once an organization is granted access to the blockchain network, it then has the ability to create and maintain a private channel with other specified members, which ensures the privacy of data. Furthermore, multiple logical frameworks can be implemented in a single network by writing chaincodes on multiple channels which is not possible in Ethereum. Knowing how different business will have different use cases, Hyperledger made for a compelling choice.
• Tracking and tracing of data: In Hyperledger Fabric, tracking and tracing of an asset is very easy as every transaction executed on blockchain network has a unique timestamp. This feature allows us to track the original, duplicate and triplicate copies of the goods delivery note, which was one of the primary functional requirements from the application.
• Plug and play: One of the most exciting features in Hyperledger fabric is that additional components can be deployed while the network is up and running whereas in other blockchain networks, any changes to the network would require a rebuild of the whole network.
• High rate of transactions per second: Hyperledger Fabric supports 3,000 transactions per second and which can be scaled to 20,000 transactions per second, which makes for a lightening fast application.
• It did not take us long to know that we had made the correct choice, when a critical question was posed by our team on stackoverflow and none other than Mr. Gary Singh, CTO (IBM Blockchain) gave us the answer.

The launch of this infrastructure solution will allow regulators to access real-time data validation, financial institutions will have access to new financial instruments, exchanges and brokers will have access to liquidity, end users of financial services will benefit from cost reduction and the possibility of direct interaction with each other. LeewayHertz has built a blockchain-based electronic signature system, WeeSign for Secretaria DeEconomia (Secretariat of Economy), Mexico using Hyperledger Sawtooth. It ensures that the documents signed in WeeSign become unique, valid, unforgeable and infallible. We are leveraging blockchain with Hyperledger Sawtooth that provides the private networks with permissioning features that add more security to the ecosystem. Z-Ledger is a custom-made extension based on Hyperledger Fabric. It is a low-level blockchain platform built with high performance, high security, privacy, high reliability, scalability, and easy operation and maintenance.
It has self-developed commercial license chain bottom chain as bottom layer and supporting tools based on Hyperledger Fabric 1.x. There are also some function expansion improvements which have made in asset registration and circulation, consensus mechanisms, privacy protection, behavioral regulation, cross-chain interactions, etc., which can cover a wide range of business field or consumer scenarios.
